More information

Simple, elegant and comfortable hat ' Maciejówka ', made of woolen cloth. This cap has a decorative stripe above the visor, and 2 golden-colored strands are sewn on its sides.

It was worn at the end of the 19th century in villages, and during World War I and the post-war period by members of shooting organizations and soldiers of the Polish Legions. In 1916, it was a symbol of the anti-Austrian rebellion.

As a sign of solidarity with the 1st Brigade, who demanded a declaration on the Polish issue, the soldiers from the remaining brigades torn off Austrian rank marks and threw away corners, replacing them with matzevot.
